Question: Discussion: Topics, Research Question, And Data Set You developed research questions for your Doctoral Study Premise. The next step in developing your Premise is selecting a suitable data set. To determine an appropriate data set, there are a number of questions that you will need to answer. For example, is your research question of global scale? Or will you focus on a local community? Are you focusing on a single hospital, or a hospital system? Are you looking at the Medicare population within a state, or comparing states? Do you have command of the language used in the data set? To prepare: Research secondary data sources, and then select a secondary quantitative data set that could be used to help answer the research questions you developed Answer: The topic, which has been chosen for the doctoral study premise is the issues as well as the challenges in acquiring surgical consent from the patients. The research title of the doctoral dissertation would be “Issues and challenges in obtaining surgical consent from the patients”. Following the chosen premise of the doctoral research study, the research questions, which are going to assist the entire research paper in obtaining its fundamental aim, would be the following – Primary Q.1 What are the challenges faced by the physicians in obtaining surgical consent from the patients? Secondary Q.2 Why patients deny to give consent for surgery? Secondary Q.3 What is the current death rate in time of surgery? Secondary Q.4 In which diseases a physician needs to suggest surgery? (Bilimoria et al., 2013) In order to consider the questions with utmost priority and accomplish them for gaining a successful result, it is essential to review some particular data set, which would be chiefly secondary (Bilimoria et al., 2013). The secondary data, which are going to support the research paper, are journal articles on challenges faced by patients frequently in time of having surgery, issues faced by doctors in time of taking consent for surgery and the diseases, which need surgical cure and government data that holds record regarding the death rate in time of surgery (Kinnersley et al., 2013). Secondary data on the aforementioned aspects would be required due to the reason that each of the aspects are related directed to the research questions.
