Answer: Medical websites are created with the aim of offering vast range of information related to health and illnesses to the healthcare consumers, and the professionals. The two medical website resources that were used for this internet search procedure were PubMed Central (PMC) and the MedlinePlus, respectively. The disease selected for the search was aortic valve disease. MedlinePlus is an online information based service that is funded by the United States National Library of Medicine, and delivers health related information to consumers in Spanish and English. Upon feeding the term ‘aortic valve disease’ in the search bar, the search results retrieved 189 hits. These were then filtered to narrow down the scope of research. The filters were selected from the left side panel and were restricted to external health links that produced 123 hits (Medlineplus, 2018). Hence, the search hits were refined based on their type and necessary information was obtained from the resource. Conversely, PubMed Central is a free digital repository that acts as an archive of full-text scholarly literature on biomedical and life sciences. The term ‘aortic valve disease’ was input in the search bar and produced 41221 hits. Use of limiters and filters from the left panel such as, publication date 1 year, and text availability, narrowed down the search hits to 3110 articles (Pubmed Central, 2018). Thus, MedlinePlus will be recommended as an educational material to patients since it contains comprehensive information on the disease, its symptoms, medical benefits, and treatment. On the other hand, a person without any prior knowledge of scientific research would find it difficult to interpret the jargons presented in the articles of PubMed Central. References Medlineplus.
